Local Families to Finalize Adoptions at Halloween-Themed Adoption Event with Family Support Services of North Florida

 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Fifteen local children were adopted into eleven families at a Halloween-themed adoption event hosted by Family Support Services of North Florida (FSS) and Duval County Judge Michael Kalil. The ceremonies will began at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29 at the Duval County Courthouse in downtown Jacksonville.

Adoptive children at the special event wore costumes for the upcoming Halloween holiday. FSS, the lead agency for family preservation, foster care and adoption in Duval and Nassau counties, organized the day’s festivities to further celebrate the many loving families who will finalized their adoptions in the courtroom on Friday.

In Duval and Nassau counties there are approximately 2,000 children, in care, with more than 1200 children living in out-of-home care due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Of these children, more than 250 are in foster homes waiting to be adopted by a loving family.
