Family Support Services’ Placement Supervisor Jaquambia Roberts is used to working late––if that’s what it takes to get the job done. Even by that standard, one Friday last April stood out. That afternoon, as the weekend was about to start, three teens needed placement. Shortly after that, the Placement Team took action on the removal of four more kids from another home.

Even though Roberts had that week off from the on-call schedule, she didn’t hesitate to step up. She helped facilitate the Acute Intervention Team for two children, despite the social distancing and other health-related requirements experienced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Jaquambia works hard and tirelessly every day, is always available, and maintains a positive attitude while being in the stressful department of Kids Central,” said Placement Manager Heather Lamb.

Roberts also developed a process for keeping more siblings together when placing them in foster homes. In addition to benefits for the siblings themselves, her initiative helped FSS achieve “green” status on the Department of Children and Families scorecard for Quarter 3.
