This year, Family Support Services of North Florida celebrated 10 years of the Just Like Me summer camp program.
Over the past decade, our agency has partnered with The Performers Academy (TPA) to provide arts programming as a resource for behavioral intervention and mental health support for area youth in foster care. The Just Like Me camp allows teens in the system of care to be mentored by artists as they express themselves through dance, music and painting, as well as explore their personal experiences and develop important team-building skills.
The theme of this year’s camp was “Unbreakable” – a testament to the unconquerable spirit of the youth we serve. The three-week program culminated in an exciting exhibition of talent performance. Campers were able to perform at the historic Florida Theatre in downtown Jacksonville for a very special evening that was truly a sight to be seen.
